With the expert system SR::SPM of STEAG Energy Services (SES) the reference/actual comparison of the pipe displacement due to thermal expansion allows to promptly identify whether the expansion is restricted e.g. by blocked hangers, fouling or friction and has to be rectified. Major damage can thus be prevented. The benefits in power plant Maasvlakte: Reduction of the inspection effort for highly-stressed pipe bends, early detection of critical conditions and increase in operational safety.
